今朝は　晴れでした。トレインで　Windsor Castleに　行きました。とても　立派な建物です。そして、綺麗な眺めです。

One interesting fact: the flag tells if the queen is in the castle - UK flag if not, and the other if so. I liked the walls a lot - the stones are reminiscent of those used to build Rocky college.

Then I went into the state department, which is unfortunately photo forbidden. There we toured around the inside of the castle and visited the rooms in sequence: guards room, queen's/king's drawing room, queen's dressing room, king's chamber room, etc. All very exquisitely decorated, full of paintings and antiques. I think most European-style castles are quite similar. The rooms has similar setup and decorations like those in the Austrian palaces, perhaps not as extravagant as Neuschwanstein,

今晩　Oxfordに　行きました。友達に　会いました。とても　楽しっかたです。Happy to know my classmates are as monstrous as ever, topping the class etc. Good news travels fast! :p

ロンドンの旅行記 5番

Today is my last day in London - time flies! It was a typical cloudy day, but strangely the weather doesn't make me feel depressed. Sometimes it is more relaxing to walk on a cloudy day like this. I got up early for the borough market under the London bridge. Before, I took the tube to the St Paul's Cathedral and walked along the River Thames after the Millenium Bridge. London always has patches of green land and some historical sites scattered in the city, and this makes the city a lot more interesting.

After the visit to the British Museum, my stay in London comes to end. I have to say London is after all a great metropolitan city with strong historical feel despite an occasional air of arrogance. NYC is more modern and vibrant, but more disorganized. Tokyo always has a depressing feeling, and even the air in HK smells materialistic. Not being biased towards NYC and London, but they are the kind of city I want to live in, though occasionally it would be awesome to escape modernity and find some comforting solitude in the countryside.

Yesterday I met up with another two of my high school classmates. We haven't met for four years, and we all kind of lamented how old we felt. I felt really happy that after so long, we could still happily chat as if we were back in the old days. And it was great to know all my classmates are doing well, having their life plans carried out, and enjoying what they are currently doing. We joked that by the next time I was able to go back to Singapore, it would probably be someone's wedding - haha, I look forward to that. Hope we could keep in touch and keep up the positive attitude - hopefully after another four years I would be proud to have known all the great surgeons, dentists, finance gurus and ministers. Good luck to us all!

Heading to the Windsor Castle tomorrow and will reach Oxford in the evening. Couldn't wait to seeing more friends!

今日は　昨日より　ずっと　寒いです。今朝　Hyde Parkに　歩いて　いきました。Hyde Parkは　Central Parkほど　にぎやかじゃありません。とても　静かです。でも、ずっと　広いです。公園に　たくさん　木と犬が　あります。たくさん　写真を　とりました。さっき　雨が　降りました。でも、公園の近くに　V&A Museumが　あります。Lucky!

Had a nice time walking in the rain, enjoyed the London street view a lot. The buildings in central London are really interesting. Unlike the skyscrapers in NYC, they have a traditional feel that I typically liked. Even the convenience stores in London have a variety of names: Wasabi, Cooperative, Boots, Sainsbury, Costa Coffee, Cafe Concerto, Pret, Marks and Spencers, etc. London is a much better metropolitan city compared to NYC.

But I think NYC's people are more interesting and open-minded. Here permeates a conservative feel and foreign elements are not as vibrant and widely appreciated.

今日の天気は 晴れです。トレインで Cotswold Districtに 行きました。Cotswoldに たくさん 小さい町が あります。この町は ロンドンより ずっと 小さいです。とても静かです。そして、人が 少ないです。でも、観光客が 多いです。とても 綺麗な 眺めがあります。いちばん 大好きな 町は Burton-on-the-water です。

Cotswold has more than 20 villages. Each village has typical English countryside view. I like it much better than the ones in the US - serene and picturesque. Haven't seen bridges, swans, cows, horses, and fields for very long and it was really nice walk in the footpath.

Didn't know that London trains could split in half middle-way and go to two different places. Almost went to Banbury instead of my destination, Moreton-in-Marsh, luckily a passerby led me to the right train compartment.

ロンドンの旅行記 2番

昨日も キャンブリジに いました。高校のクラスメートに Billsで 会いました。気持ちが とても 良かったです。そして、キンズコレジ(King's College)に 行きました。ここに 立派なChapelが あります。綺麗な橋も あります。

昼 パンティング(punting)を しました。とても 楽しかったです。素晴らしい 眺めです。キャンブリジは プリンストンより ずっと 広いです、人と店が 多いです。休みの日は にぎやかです。

We passed by Trinity, Claire, St John's, King's, and Queen's college during punting. It was really hard to punt coz the stick was really heavy, and swans/ducks would occasionally mess up with you by tilting the balance of the boat. But luckily we had a smooth ride. There was the Bridge of Sighs (link to exam hall) and Queen's math bridge too - really beautiful and full of stories.

ロンドンの旅行記 1番

おはよう！

昨日の朝 飛行機で ロンドンに 行きました。天気は 良かったでした、でも曇りでした。大き町の中で たぶん ロンドンが いちばん 好きです。ニューヨークより きれいですから。そして、ホンコンほど にぎやかじゃありません。

そして、高校のルームメートに 会いました。友達と いっしょに Gail's kitchenに brunchを 食べに 行きました。本当に 美味しかったです！

昼 トレインで Cambridgeに 行きました。ロンドンより Cambridgeの ほうが ずっと 寒かったです！そして、ロンドンより小さいです。でも、とても 綺麗です。静かです。Cambridgeに 高校のクラスメートが たくさん あります。昨夜 Trinity Collegeで formalが ありました。美味しい 食べ物が ありました。とても 楽しっかたですね！

Everyone has to put on a gown to dine at the formal. Strangely, photos are prohibited, and waiters will ask you to put away your phones once you take them out. At the beginning, people all stood up and greeted the masters of college, and did this again when they finished and left.

Cambridge has 31 colleges, similar to Princeton's residential college. But Cambridge does not have a closed campus per se, as all the colleges are scattered everywhere in the city.

Reflection & Goal for PE

Reflection for the past seven weeks:

• Have tried to do one anime shadowing and conversation practice
• Read textbook every week
• Went to the Japanese table almost every week.
• Watched anime at least once a week, actually, now is every day, since I started watching Death Note/Hunter x Hunter/Attack on Titan (lol)
• Aim to do another longer anime shadowing after fall break.

Goal for the next half of the semester:

• Continue current progress.
• Try to have more conversation practice with senseis, friends, or at the Japanese table and say longer sentences. 
• Do two more longer anime shadowing.

OK, now time to catch the flight to London! いきましょ！

こんばんは。いま、にほんごで　ブログを　かきます。

プリンストンだいがくのせいかつは　とても　いそがしいです。まいにち　７じはんに　おきます。そして、あさごはんを　いつも　たべます。けさ　バナナとリンゴを　たべました。そして、にほんごを　べんきょうします。８じ４５ふんに　ともだちと　にほんごのじゅぎょうに　いきます。そのあと、げつようびとすいようびは　にほんれきしのじゅぎょうが　あります。かようびともくようびは　きんゆうこうがくのじゅぎょうがあります。ひる　おちゃかコーヒーを　のみます。そして、としょかんで　はたらきます。しゅくだいを　します。そのあと、ジムに　ジョギングを　します。６じに　うちに　かえります。ばんごはんは　たいてい　たべます。そして、ほんを　よみます。ときどき　アニメのコナンを　みます。１２じごろ　ねます。じんせいは　たいへんですから、がんばってね！

では、わたしは　プリンストンだいがくが　だいすきです！プリンストンは　ちいさいでしずかな　まちです。そして、とても　きれいです。せんしゅうまつは　ルムメートと　カヌー(canoe)を　しました。てんきは　はれでした。とても　すばらしい　ながめでした。たくさん　しゃしんを　とりました。とても　たのしかったです！

たいてい　りょうで　やさいとにくで　ちゅうごくりょうりを　つくります。くだものが　すきですから、まいにち　たべます。ときどき　レストランに　ともだちと　いっしょに　いきます。ラーメンが　いちばん　すきです。Halo Pubのアイスクリームも　だいすきです。
